More number of competency-based questions to be included from academic session 2024-25
No changes in 9th and 10th
Latest Updated 05/04/2024: The board has made it clear that there has been no change in the evaluation plan of classes 9th and 10th. In both the classes, the number of ability based questions will be 50 percent as before, the number of other MCQ questions will be 20 percent and the number of short answer and long answer questions will be 30 percent. It is noteworthy that the board has already released the syllabus and sample papers for the academic session 2024-25. The board has also released it on the website. This change has been made on the basis of the recommendations of CBSE new education policy.
CBSE has made changes in the evaluation scheme for the academic session 2024-25. Now more aptitude based questions will be asked in class 11th and 12th examinations. Now the number of short answer and long answer questions will be less.

The board has said that in the current session, more number of aptitude based questions (related to real life concepts) will be part of the question paper. In class 11th to 12th, 50 percent questions will be aptitude based, these will include MCQs, case based questions, source based integrated questions. Till last year the number of such questions was 40 percent. Other multiple choice questions will be 20 percent only as before. The number for short answer and long answer type questions has been reduced from 40 percent to 30 percent. It is known that the examinations of both these classes will be based on the same pattern of questions. In classes 11th and 12th, the number of ability based multiple choice questions, case based questions and source based questions will be 50 percent, whereas till now the number of such questions was 40 percent.

Board's emphasis on learning instead of rote learning
The board's emphasis is on learning rather than rote learning. The objective is to develop creative and thinking abilities. Aptitude based questions have been included. Information in this regard has been sent to the schools by the Academic Director.
