Latest Updated 04/03/2024: More than 40 percent posts of agriculture coordinator are vacant in the state. There are total 4391 posts of Agriculture Coordinator, currently 2700 coordinators are working, about 1700 posts are vacant. Due to lack of agricultural coordinators, farmers face difficulty in delivering inputs for farming including seeds on time.
Provision of one agriculture coordinator on 2 panchayats
There is a provision of one agriculture coordinator for every two panchayats. Along with this, 5-5 agriculture coordinator leaves are reserved in every district. The Agriculture Department was preparing two years ago for the restoration of vacant posts, but till now no concrete action has been taken towards filling the vacancy. Now the Agriculture Department is preparing to amend the Agriculture Coordinator Rules. It is believed that the process of appointment of Agriculture Coordinator will be started only after the amendment of the rules. The main responsibility for the implementation of almost all the schemes of the Agriculture Department rests with the Agriculture Coordinator. Agriculture coordinator also plays an important role in providing benefits of Pradhan Mantri Samman Nidhi Yojana to the farmers.

1700 agriculture coordinator posts are vacant in Bihar

Schemes related to Kisan Chaupal, Organic Corridor and Horticulture are also implemented through the Agriculture Coordinator.
