Live News Update: Recruitment process of 40506 head teachers started in the elementary schools of Bihar by BPSC
Latest Updated 27/02/2024: The process of recruitment of 40,506 headmasters (head teachers) in elementary schools (classes 1 to 8) of the state has been started. The Education Department has sent the requisition for appointment to the General Administration. This requisition will go to Bihar Public Service Commission through general administration. It is expected that soon BPSC will issue advertisement and call for applications. In this way, the wait for this appointment which has been pending for a long time is about to end.
- Teachers who have completed 8 years (minimum) service will be eligible to apply
Teachers working in government primary schools of the state will get a chance to apply for this appointment. For this, only teachers who have completed minimum eight years of service will be considered eligible to apply. Only last week, Bihar Primary School Head Teacher Manual 2024 has received the approval of the state cabinet.

Here, the department was already working on the roster of district wise posts. Head teachers will be appointed by BPSC on the basis of written examination. Any candidate will get a chance to participate in the examination conducted by BPSC maximum three times. The pattern and syllabus of the examination will be decided by BPSC in consultation with the Education Department. The maximum age of a teacher should be less than 58 years as on 1st August in the year of appointment examination. The provision of reservation implemented by the General Administration Department will also be applicable in the appointment of head teachers.

There will be a separate cadre of head teachers at the district level
According to Bihar Primary School Head Teacher Rules 2024, the salary & other allowances of head teachers will be determined in consultation with the Finance Department. Also, detailed guidelines for disciplinary action against head teachers will be issued after consultation with the General Administration Department. There will be a separate cadre of head teachers at the district level. Their posts will be transferable. These teachers can be transferred both inside and outside the district.
