Interim relief to candidates on age limit in UKPSC Police Recruitment latest news update 2024

Latest Updated 20/02/2024: The court has given interim relief to the candidate challenging the cut-off date for considering age for the recruitment of Sub Inspector in Police. The Court directed the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission to accept and grant permission to the petitioner's application. The next hearing of the case has been fixed for 1st May.

Haldwani resident Mohit Verma filed a petition in the High Court challenging the conditions of the advertisement issued by UKPSC on 31 January. Where the cut off for considering age has been fixed as 1 July 2024 instead of 1 July 2023. The petition said that the vacancies pertain to the recruitment year 2023-24, hence the cut off date should have been fixed as 1 July 2023.

The cut off has been decided as per the notification issued in 2014, which stated that the cut off will be decided on 1st July of the year in which the advertisement for recruitment will be issued. A single bench of Justice Pankaj Purohit has given six weeks time to the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission to file a counter affidavit. Also, two weeks' time was given to the petitioner to file the reply.
