PG medical counselling will be online only latest news update 2024
Latest Updated 08/01/2024: Counseling for admission to postgraduate (PG) medical will now be done only through online mode and colleges will have to declare the fees for each course in advance. Apart from this, no college will be able to give admission on its own. This information was given in the Post Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023, recently notified by the National Medical Commission (NMC).

As per the regulation, different stage counseling for all PG seats will be conducted by the state or central counseling authorities through online mode. The new rules state that common counseling for admission to postgraduate courses in medicine for all medical institutions in India will be based only on the merit list of the respective examinations. The rules said that all stages of counseling for all seats will be conducted through online mode by the state or central counseling authority and no medical college/institution will admit anyone on its own.
The amount of fees for each course has to be mentioned
While entering the details in the seat matrix the Medical College will have to mention the fees for each course, failing which the seat will not be counted. Dr. Vijay Ojha, Chairman of PG Medical Education Board of NMC said that changes have also been made in the examination system. Formative assessment and multiple choice questions have also been included in university examinations.
