Bihar Board will conduct competency test of teachers latest news update 2024
Latest Updated 16/01/2024: Bihar School Examination Committee will conduct the competency test of about three and a half lakh employed teachers of the state. The Education Department has authorized the committee for this. The department has issued the order on Monday.
- There are 3.5 lakh employed teachers across the state.
Employed teachers will get the status of state employees only after passing the competency test. Teachers will get three chances to pass the exam. According to the information received from the department, this examination can be taken in March-April 2024. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had also said in the appointment letter distribution ceremony at Gandhi Maidan on November 13 that soon the competency test of all the teachers would be conducted.

The department has said in the order that it is written in the Bihar School Special Teacher Rules, 2023 that the competency test of teachers employed through a government agency will be taken. It is known that on December 26, 2023, the Cabinet had approved the Bihar School Special Teacher Rules 2023. Under this, the teachers employed will take the competency test and contribute to the allotted school. Teachers employed with contribution will be called special teachers. Besides, they will start getting the same pay scale and other benefits as the teachers reinstated by BPSC. If he fails in the third attempt of the competency test, he will continue to be a local body teacher and will be considered separately by the department.
Criteria for preference
The date of receipt of pay scale by trainees as local body teachers, where two teachers are of the same date, their date of birth will decide the preference. A time period of eight years has been kept for the promotion of special teachers. This benefit will be available on the basis of vacancies. The posts of special teachers will be transferable. At the time of appearing in the competency test, teachers will be asked to choose three districts. Will be posted in the district on the basis of merit in the examination. If not included in all three options, the district will be allotted randomly.
There will be district level cadre
After passing the competency test, the post of teacher will be merged into a single cadre at the district level from the date of contribution. They will constitute a separate cadre, whose service conditions will be considered applicable under this new rule. Whenever a particular teacher retires, resigns or is dismissed, no appointment will be made by the local body against his vacancy. A priority list of specific teachers will be maintained at the district level. A seniority list will be prepared for each category of teachers.
