BCECEB: 7942 seats vacant in the engineering colleges of Bihar latest news update 2023
Latest Updated 22/11/2023: The admission process has ended after the second phase in 38 engineering colleges of the state. This time there will be no nomination under the mopup round. Even after the second phase is over, more than half the seats remain vacant. Admission was to be done on 13675 seats in 38 government engineering colleges of the state, but enrollment could be done on only 5733 seats. After the 2nd round is over, 7942 seats remain vacant. In these vacant seats, seats are vacant in the Computer Science as well as in many related streams. Whereas in the new session 2023-24, 2810 seats were increased in 38 govt engineering colleges. This time 360-360 seats were earmarked in all the engineering colleges. Only MIT Muzaffarpur has only 5 seats less.

There are 355 seats here. In all the remaining 37 engineering colleges, admission is to be done for 360-360 seats. New branches were opened in the many colleges this time, but computer science & computer science related subjects were in highest demand. Even after this, some seats remain vacant in all the colleges related to the computer science. With this, there will be admission on 90 seats in the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Women's Institute & Technology and 38 seats in SGIDT Patna. Together, 115 seats are vacant.
BCECEB said that it has been decided to fill the remaining vacant seats in engineering colleges from the applicants of PCM (Physics, Chemistry & Maths) group on the basis of the combined merit list of the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination (BCECE) 2023.
Online counseling is to be done as per merit cum option from PCM Group. The process of online counseling will start from 1 September. Registration & choices can be made from 1 to 4 September. The provisional seat allotment of the 1st phase will be released on 8 September. Nomination under the 1st phase was held from 9 to 11 September. At the same time, the provisional seat allotment of the 2nd phase was released on 15 September.
