Panchayats will make playgrounds in the secondary and plus two schools of Bihar latest news update 2023

Panchayati Raj Department (PRD) released guidelines, letter sent to all District Magistrates

Latest Updated 24/08/2023: Panchayats will make playgrounds in secondary and higher secondary schools of their area. Panchayat representatives will use the funds of the 15th Finance Commission for this. Earlier this amount was used for street-hose, sanitation, water supply and other works. Now the panchayat representatives will be able to get a playground constructed with this amount. The Panchayati Raj Department has written a letter to all the DMs in this regard.

On August 17, the Panchayati Raj Department has given permission to select several schemes in the activities proposed for three-tier Panchayati Raj Institutions under the head of Untied Grant. When the Panchayati Raj Department reviewed the work being done at the Panchayat level in recent months, it was found that a large number of playgrounds are being demanded. A lot of such demands have come to the heads, panchayat samiti members and block officers. In view of this, the department has decided to develop the sports grounds with the funds allocated by the 15th Finance Commission. This plan will have to be approved by the Block Education Committee.

The people of village will also get employment

  • The amount of the 15th Finance Commission will be used for the construction of the sports ground.

  • Till now the Panchayat representatives used to get the street-drain and other works done with this amount.

  • Small ponds can be dug if soil is needed for the playground.

These schemes make playgrounds in rural areas

MNREGA or Sixth Finance Commission funds are often spent to build playgrounds in rural areas. In many districts of the state including Patna, playgrounds have been built with the amount of MNREGA scheme. Apart from this, parks have also been built at many places, but the district level committee selects and implements the scheme, but in the new system, panchayat representatives have been entrusted with the responsibility of building playgrounds in government schools in their area.

The Panchayati Raj Department has said that soil may be needed for the areas where the playground will be built. In such a situation, a small pond should be excavated on the government land around the village. Water harvesting work will also be done from the pond in the rural areas. On the other hand, the work of digging for making the pond should be given to the village or MNREGA workers. With this, they will also get employment in and around the village.
