Notice to JSSC Jharkhand with State Government latest news update 2023

Latest Updated 27/08/2023: In the division bench of Jharkhand High Court Chief Justice Sanjay Kumar Mishra and Justice Anand Sen, a hearing was held on the challenge petition filed for giving 50 percent reservation to Para teachers in the Assistant Professor appointment rules. In the matter, the court has issued a notice to the state government and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) seeking their response. The next hearing has been fixed for 31 August.

JSSC has released advertisement for the post of Assistant Professor. The state government has made a new rule for this appointment. This is called Assistant Professor Recruitment Rules 2023. In this, there is now a provision to give 50 percent reservation in the appointment of assistant professors only to para teachers. Those employees who are working in the education department on contract do not come under this purview.

According to the petition filed, when the Assistant Professor Recruitment Rules 2022 came into force, then instead of giving reservation only to para teachers, all such employees who were working on open app contracts came under this purview. He approached the High Court regarding this matter. JSSC has also been made a respondent in the case.

The counsel for the applicant told the court that in the Assistant Professor Appointment Rules 2022, the facility of 50 per cent reservation was given to the personnel working in the education department on contract basis. Later reservation for contract workers was abolished and the rules were revised. The state government has made the amended Assistant Professor Appointment Rules 2023, under which there is now a provision to give 50 percent reservation in the appointment of Assistant Professor only to para teachers. The contract workers working in the education department should also have got reservation. Applicants will be able to apply for 26,001 Assistant Professor posts in Jharkhand from 16 August to 15 September midnight.
