Breaking News: 28% GST on online gaming from 1 October
Latest Updated 03/08/2023: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday said that the decision to levy 28 per cent tax on the entire amount at stake in online gaming will come into effect from October 1. The Finance Minister gave this information after the GST Council meeting.
In the meeting, the Finance Minister said, Delhi, Goa, Sikkim demanded a review of the decision to impose 28 percent tax on online gaming and casinos. Other states talked about implementing it soon, after which this decision was taken. He also assured that once the law is implemented, its effectiveness will be reviewed after six months.
Law will change in states
Center can bring amendments related to CGST Act 2017 and IGST Act 2017 in this Parliament session. Also, the government intends to make it effective from October 1. After the changes of the Center, the SGST law will also be changed in the states.
