Latest Updated 26/06/2023: Jitendra Kumar Shah, a Bihar Administrative Service (BIPS) officer and Joint Secretary, Sugarcane Industries Department, died on Sunday after falling into a gorge while trekking near Jakha in Himachal Pradesh. His body was retrieved by the NDRF team. The body has been taken to the hospital for postmortem.

According to the information, he suffered serious head injuries. Jitendra Shah is survived by his wife and two sons. Shah was a native of Sheetalpur in Chhapra. Five officers went for tracking. These include Principal Secretary of Sugarcane Development Department Narmadeshwar Lal, District Informatics Officer, Patna Ram Bhagwan and Dr. Ramesh of Animal Husbandry Department. Significantly, in 2022, Vivek Kumar, Deputy Collector level officer of Biprase, died in Chamoli, Uttarakhand during training due to lack of oxygen due to heart attack.
