Latest Updated 04/05/2023: CCL CMD PM Prasad (Polavarapu Mallikarjuna Prasad) has been selected for the chairmanship of Coal India. PM Prasad's name has been recommended after the interview conducted by the Public Enterprises Selection Board on Wednesday. He was the CMD of BCCL before CCL. Now after getting the green signal from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, he can assume office on July 1.

A total of seven participants were called for the interview conducted for Coal India Chairman. Apart from PM Prasad, those who were called for interview include Ashok Varnwal (IAS) Principal Secretary (Forest Department) Madhya Pradesh, Ambika Prasad Panda CMD Eastern Coalfields Limited, Manoj Kumar CMD CMPDIL, Amitabh Mukherjee Director (Finance) MDC Limited, Prabhudayal Chiranian Sr. GM, BSNL and Alok Singh (IRS) Commissioner of Income Tax were included. Pramod Agarwal, the current chairman of Coal India, is retiring in June.
