Live News Update 2023: CID started investigation of grain loot conspiracy in Dhanbad
Latest Updated 15/05/2023: A case of tampering with the Aahar portal has come to the fore for looting the grains of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) under the Food Security Act in the state. Many non-PVTGs have also been converted to PVTG among the beneficiaries of the portal. After the disclosure of the matter, the government had ordered an inquiry on the aspect of cybercrime. After this, the cyber branch of CID has started the investigation.
After the implementation of the Food Security Act in the state, PVTG provides free home delivery of grain packets. The State Food Security Act has been implemented from 2021 to provide food grains at a subsidized rate to the beneficiaries of the National Food Security Act. Beneficiaries are to be transferred from the State Food Security Act to the National Food Security Act. It has priority PVTG. For this the DSO has got the login ID.
What went wrong
The review found that 1199 ration cards in East Singhbhum, 2577 in Giridih, 1938 in Gumla, 1014 in Hazaribagh and 1045 in Lohardaga district were converted to PVTG category without any documents.
