High court serious allegations against former minister and senior IAS

Latest Updated 26/05/2023: The Lucknow bench of the High Court has directed CBI to investigate the admission scam in the Ayush Colleges. In this case former AYUSH Minister Dharam Singh Saini and the then Additional Chief Secretary of AYUSH Department as well as several other key officials are accused of taking bribe. The court has also ordered the CBI to submit its report, while fixing August 1 as the date for hearing.

This order was passed by the single bench of Justice Rajeev Singh while accepting the bail application filed by Dr. Ritu Garg, the accused in the case. During the hearing, Additional Government Advocate Rao Narendra Singh along with Director General Medical Education Kinjal Singh and STF Deputy SP Sanjeev Dixit were present in the court on behalf of the state government. During the hearing, the statement given by Dr. Umakant Singh, the other accused in the case and the then officer-in-charge of Ayurveda Directorate, was read out to the adjudicating officer, in which he said that the then Minister Dharam Singh Saini, for admission to various courses in the Department of AYUSH in UG PG 2019 Bribes were taken by other top officers including the then Additional Chief Secretary Prashant Trivedi. It was said that the minister took Rs 1.5 crore for his bungalow, while the Additional Chief Secretary also took Rs 25 lakh. The bribe was distributed till the section officer.

The investigating officer said that the allegations in the statement of the accused Dr. Umakant were not verified by any senior officer. The court said that the allegations are serious and this has been done under the guise of complying with an order of the Supreme Court, the court cannot turn a blind eye. However, the court has accepted the bail plea of accused Dr. Ritu Garg.
