Ban on BPL admission list of Jharkhand, public hearing on 12th May latest news update 2023

Latest Updated 09/05/2023: Jharkhand State Child Rights Protection Commission has taken cognizance of the parents' objection to the selection list issued for BPL admission in recognized public schools. Commission's state president Kajal Yadav has said in a letter issued to DC Dhanbad that the commission, taking suo motu cognizance, directs that the list prepared for enrollment of children from BPL quota in Dhanbad district should be banned with immediate effect. The Commission will hold a public hearing in this matter on May 12 from 1230 noon. 

In the matter, Kajal said that this public hearing will be held on time in Dhanbad itself on the scheduled date. On May 6, your own popular newspaper Hindustan had prominently published the headline BPL admission is also closed in 31 public schools in return for 36. BPL admission has not been started in a month. More than two hundred parents have given objection for BPL admission for 36 schools. The objection has not yet been resolved. The department has received 2828 applications for 67 schools in Dhanbad. Experts say that if the enrollment list is not finalized soon, BPL admission in public schools will be done after summer vacation.

Allegations of disturbances in the report of distance from school to home


A large number of parents have objected to the selection list saying that there has been a discrepancy in the distance between home and school. The distance from school to home was shown differently for two children from the same locality. So one was selected. The other one was not selected. Many other allegations have been made in a similar manner. Representatives of several political parties have also alleged irregularities in the selection list.
