Latest Updated 28/02/2023: Dr. Rakesh informed that the PCS preliminary examination has been proposed in July 2023 in Uttarakhand. It has been included in the examination calendar year 2023 in anticipation of getting a recruitment proposal from the government. The Commission has also now approved the syllabus for the examination on the pattern of the Civil Services Examination of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Its recommendation has been sent to the government. With this, the youth of Uttarakhand will get significant help in preparing for the State Civil Services as well as the All India Civil Services.


The Public Service Commission has now decided to conduct the PCS examination every year. This year this exam has been proposed in July.

Commission Chairman Dr. Rakesh Kumar said that for the recently concluded PCS Main Examination-2021, 2,56,935 applications were received against 318 vacant posts from the government level. Of these, 5636 candidates were successful in the preliminary examination, but only 4115 candidates appeared in the main examination. Thus the attendance was 73.01.


He told that earlier in 2016, 1458 candidates had participated in the main examination for 138 posts as compared to 1912. The attendance figure at that time was 76.25 per cent. It appears that there is a gap of more than five years between the conduct of two PCS Main Examinations, therefore, now the Commission has decided to conduct the PCS Examination every year.

Dr. Rakesh Kumar told that the Public Service Commission has decided to conduct other examinations on time. Under this, on 5 March, the recruitment examination for the post of junior assistant will be held at 412 centers across the state. 1,45,239 candidates have applied for this exam. At the same time, a total of 617 centers have been made for the examination for the posts of Forest Guard on 9 April. Of these, 2,06,431 candidates have applied. Similarly, on 23 April, the examination will be conducted for the posts of Assistant Accountant. He informed that the Uttarakhand Judicial Service (Civil Judge) examination has been proposed on 30 April.
