NAAC Recognition of 119 colleges, 8 universities of Bihar latest news update 2023
Latest Updated 25/01/2023: The colleges and universities of the state have got a big relief for NAAC recognition. NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) recognition period of 119 colleges and 8 universities has been extended till February 28. These include 38 colleges, whose NAAC recognition is currently restored. Other colleges have lost their NAAC accreditation over a period of time. However, giving them time till 28 February, they have been asked to apply during this period. After these decisions, the danger of losing the recognition of these colleges and universities has been averted.
However, to maintain recognition, they will have to upload Institutional Information for Quality Assessment (IIQA) and Self Study Report (SSR) by 28 February. On this basis, they will get further relief. Recently, NAAC had given an opportunity to the colleges which had lost recognition during the Corona period to upload IIQA for NAAC evaluation. These colleges were told that if they upload IIQA and Self Study Report (SSR) for NAAC evaluation by 31 December 2022, then their recognition which expired during the Corona period, will be valid from the day of expiry. In such a situation, they will get relief from losing recognition during the Corona period. Now the deadline of February 28 has been fixed for NAAC recognition. The universities whose recognition has been extended include BRA University Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga Sanskrit University, Magadh University, Tilka Manjhi University Bhagalpur, Patna University and Lalit Narayan Mithila University. Although the recognition of many of these was already restored, but they too have been given extension till 28 February. The workshop was organized on 24, 25, 26 and 27 December 2022 to give information related to NAAC accreditation to these colleges.
Presently only 38 colleges are recognized According to NOK, 134 colleges were recognized in Bihar in March 2020, while at present only 38 colleges are left as recognized as of December, 2022. Two and a half years ago, out of 134 recognized colleges, 108 are government and 25 are affiliated colleges. Only one college is in the category of autonomous. Now there are 27 government, 07 affiliated colleges and 2 autonomous colleges in the recognized colleges. As such, 98 colleges are still left out of the list of recognized colleges. Well this golden opportunity has been provided for the institute.
Why is NAAC assessment important?
Those colleges which are not NAAC rated, they will have difficulty in getting grant from National Higher Education Campaign. Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan gives funds for the development of colleges. NAAC evaluation is necessary for grant in any case. Students studying from well rated school, university helps a lot in building a career.
