Latest Updated 11/01/2023: The requirement of 75% marks in class 12th can be relaxed for admission to IITs and NITs. Sources in the Ministry of Education say that it is being considered to give exemption to the top-20 percentile students of every education board to sit in the JEE Advanced exam.

Sources said, the decision has been taken in the wake of demands to relax the eligibility criteria for JEE Advanced. The norms require at least 75 per cent marks in class 12th examination conducted by the concerned education board. The new criteria will help candidates who score less than this, said sources. Many students score less than 75 marks in many state boards. The first phase of JEE-Main will be held on January 24 and 31, 2022.
