NOU Patna: if not recognized then studies will stop latest news update
Latest Updated On 6/11/2022: Education through distance education is already closed in the state universities. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has derecognised all. Now, Nalanda Open University is the only one in the state from where distance education is taught. For the new session 2023-24, the university is not yet recognized. Because of this, there is a crisis in the nomination in the new session. The total number of students including all the courses including undergraduate and postgraduate in the university is more than 54 thousand.
Not a single university has got A grade from NAAC, due to the closure of education through distance education, more than two lakh students of the state are not able to enroll. According to the rules of UGC, now only those universities who have got A grade from NAAC can conduct studies in distance mode. At present, not a single university in the state has got A grade from NAAC.
PU was given a chance to enroll in just one session
In Lalit Narayan Mithila University, Darbhanga, about 35 to 40 thousand students were enrolled through distance mode in various vocational level courses including UG, PG. BRA Ambedkar University, Muzaffarpur also offered UG, PG and some self finance courses. Distance mode studies are closed in Magadh University. From BEd to Bilib, Mlib, MJMC and M in Education, studies were done here. Here, PU was given the opportunity to enroll in one session only as an extension by the Bureau of Distance Education. That too is over. Enrollment is closed here too.
A letter has been sent to the Distance Education Bureau for further recognition of the University. The university is not recognized for the next session. Hope a decision will be taken soon. The official has been talked to many times for recognition from UGC. Altogether 54 thousand students are studying in the university at present.
