Approval of 77 appointments from reserved category in Jharkhand latest news update 2022

Latest Updated 22/11/2022: Chief Minister Hemant Soren has approved the amendment in the proposal included in the Reservation (Amendment) Bill in the vacancies of Jharkhand posts and services of Personnel, Administrative Reforms and Official Language Department approved in the cabinet on 14 September 2022. According to this, now there will be 77 percent appointments from the reserved category in the state. And there will be 23 percent recruitment on the basis of merit. This act will come into effect only after it is included in the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution.


According to the new amendment, 12 percent reservation will be given to Scheduled Castes, 28 percent to Scheduled Tribes, 15 percent to Extremely Backward Classes (Schedule 1) and 12 percent to Backward Classes (Schedule 2) in appointments to be held in the state. Apart from this, 10 percent seats will be reserved for economically weaker sections.

Several provisions were removed The provisions of Section 4 (1) and 4 (2) of the Basic Act of 2001 related to reservation (for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes) in Jharkhand posts and vacancies have been removed. It has been replaced as follows. 4(1) of all appointments to services and posts in an establishment to be filled by direct recruitment, 77 per cent shall be on the basis of reservation category and 23 per cent on the basis of merit. This will be known as the Jharkhand Reservation in Vacancies of Posts and Services (Amendment) Act-2022. This Act will come into effect after its inclusion in the 9th Schedule of the Constitution.
