Latest Updated On 18/09/2022: The educational qualification will be expanded for Group C and B technical posts in the Department of Agriculture and Horticulture. At present the educational qualification for these posts is Agriculture Graduate.
The government believes that having personnel with expertise in the relevant field in technical positions can give better results. The government has directed the Directorate of Horticulture to prepare a proposal for amendment in the departmental manual considering the extension of educational qualification.

According to Horticulture Director Dr. HS Baweja when contacted, a meeting has been called in the Directorate of Horticulture on September 21 in this regard. In this, a proposal will be prepared detailing the educational qualification.
Hence the need
Especially some posts in the Horticulture Department are of special qualification. Among them are Assistant Director-Horticulture, Plant Protection Officer-Horticulture and Food Processing, Mushroom Development Officer, Assistant Director-Chemistry, Assistant Director-Botany. But, at present the educational qualification is fixed as B.Sc- Agriculture or PG-Science. Due to this, personnel are not getting as per the requirement of the Horticulture Department.
Horticulture qualification will be B.Sc-M.Sc.
In upcoming future recruitment in the Horticulture Department, BSc-Horticulture or MSc-Horticulture will be made an educational qualification. In this, candidates from various sectors related to horticulture will be given preference.
