Latest Updated On 03/05/2022: There has been a break on the basic teacher recruitment going on for six months. After the order to include NIOS D.El.Ed in the recruitment process, the education department has stopped the process. The proposed counseling on May 5 has also been canceled. Director of Basic Education Vandana Garbyal has sent the order of the High Court and the status report of the recruitment process so far to the government. B.Ed TET unemployed are angry with this decision of the department.
The High Court, in its interim order dated 28 April 2022, has asked to include NIOS D.El.Ed in basic teacher recruitment. Since then the education department is confused. In fact, out of 2287 vacant posts of basic teachers, around 1800 have been selected so far. In such a situation, the entire process may get affected if NIOS D.L.Ed is included. On the other hand, the department fears that NIOS D.El.Ed who had applied earlier may be included but those who were not able to apply may also claim under Right to Equality.

B.Ed Bridge Course people also claimed: Unemployed who have done six months bridge course from NIOS have also demanded from the Education Department to include them in Basic Teacher Recruitment. Surendra Singh Rana, president of B.Ed Bridge Course Trained Unemployed Organization, says that NCTE has considered D.Ed as well as B.Ed as a qualification for the recruitment of Basic Teacher. General BEd TET trained have to do six months specialized BTC after selection whereas thousands of youth from NIOS have done bridge course while in service. In such a situation, the bridge course of NIOS should be recognized and included in the basic teacher recruitment.
