Latest Updated On 25/05/2022: Srinagar Medical College may have about 600 regular employees working as contract, outsourced and daily wage earners for the last 15 years. The Medical Education Department has prepared a proposal to make these employees appointed according to the prescribed procedure under the One Time Settlement Scheme. This will be discussed soon in the government. After that a decision can be taken in the cabinet.

A large number of employees were appointed on contract basis in Srinagar Medical College since the year 2008. These employees have been demanding their regularization for a long time. About 350 employees have also gone to court against the government in the past regarding this demand. Without these employees, the functioning of the college is not possible. Due to this, a proposal has been sent several times to the government on behalf of the principal to regularize the employees. Now the Medical Education Department has prepared a proposal in this regard. Medical Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat has also directed Health Secretary Radhika Jha to take immediate action in this matter. Dr. Rawat said on Tuesday that instructions have been given to regularize the contract employees of Srinagar Medical College under the One Time Settlement Scheme. On the other hand, after the implementation of this proposal, the path of regularization of more than 30 thousand contractual and outsourced employees of Uttarakhand can also be opened.

There are 3900 sub-panel employees in the power sector: At present, a total of 3900 sub-employees are employed in the state's energy corporations-UPCL, Pitkul and UJVNL. Along with this, two thousand employees of Self Help Groups are also working in UPCL. The number of special category contractual employees in roadways is close to 2800.
Five employees are getting the benefit of equal pay: On the other hand, five sub-employees of the Energy Corporation are getting the benefit of equal pay for equal work on the orders of the High Court. This benefit is not being available to other Upanal employees in the state. The UPCL management has also challenged the order of the High Court in the Supreme Court. Whereas, pressure is being put on the government by the employees in this matter that this benefit should be given to all the sub-workers. Also, the case should be withdrawn from the court immediately.
