Censor Board's scissors on Alia Bhatt's 'Gangubai Kathiawadi', approval for release after removing four scenes
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has given a U/A certificate to Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming film 'Gangubai Kathiawadi'. Which means that the film can be watched by the audience of all age groups. The Alia Bhatt starrer is based on Hussain Zaidi's book Mafia Queens of Mumbai. There is a lot of controversy about the film, in which this relief news has come. It has premiered at the Berlin Film Festival. Gangubai Kathiawadi is hitting the theaters on 25/02/2022.
However, the CBFC's scissors have run on four scenes of the film and only after removing it, 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' has been given a U/A certificate. According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, the CBFC has removed an abuse. The complaint states that the 17-second-long dialogue and graphics were removed without detailing the scene.
A scene showing Gangubai's conversation with former Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru has also been changed. The scene of the late prime minister 'putting a rose flower on Gangubai's shoulder' has also been changed, and the 43-second dialogue has also been removed. The producers have also been asked to insert a 5 second discamer in English and Hindi.
By the way, it has become common for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's films to get caught in controversy before the release. But Alia Bhatt's 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' is cemented all round. The storm about the scenes of the movie was not yet over that the Supreme Court suggested director Sanjay Leela Bhansali to change the name of the film. Let us tell you that 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' is coming among the audience on February 25, so the first name change exercise can create problems.
According to the reports of ETimes, a lot of objections have been filed in the court regarding the title of the film. The final hearing is to be held in the court today i.e. on 24th. Reports said that Bhansali's lawyer has said that he will present the filmmaker's side during the hearing on Thursday. Now the question is whether Bhansali will be ready to change the name. In the past too, he has changed the titles of his films including 'Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela' and 'Padmavat' due to controversy. 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' is hitting the theaters tomorrow.
